HQ NextPCB Functional Testing Overview
Say no to paperweight prototypes with failproof functional testing. HQ NextPCB can perform functional testing on PCBA orders for prototype, small batch and mass production volumes. To help you get an idea of what a functional test case looks like, we have prepared some examples below.
Testing can be as simple as a power on test or full testing with a test jig and software controlled testing with firmware burning. Our test engineers can assist with fixture development to increase testing efficiency for larger batches.
Current Offer:
- Free assembly for 5 boards
- Functional testing for up to 10 boards
Simple Sample Test Instructions
Order Quantity: 100
Test Quantity: 100
Required Equipment: 5V power supply
Test Instructions:
Apply 5V power to terminals - +
Pass Condition: All LEDs light up with equal brightness
Fail Condition: One or more LEDs do not light up or have different brightness
Industrial Meter with Firmware Programming Sample Test Instructions
Order Quantity: 20
Test Quantity: 20
Required Files: hqsample_a_0_2.elf (firmware)
Required Equipment: Computer, STM32 programmer, relay coil driver, pulse generator and power supply.
Test Instructions:
- Apply 24 VDC power to the GND and + IN terminal and make sure display powers and then program unit.
Pass Condition: Display powers on and device programmed successfully - Activate the relay coil driver using the push buttons and verify that 24 VDC power is available on connections GND and +FM.
Pass Condition: 24 VDC output - Then apply approximately 209 hertz square wave on terminal TRM and verify the display shows 100.
Pass Condition: Display shows 100 - Verify that there is a square wave pulse output showing on PUL - + terminals
Pass Condition: Square wave output
Test report available upon request.

HQ NextPCB Test Process
Test Plan Development
Client provides a detailed test plan, including firmware and required hardware, if applicable.
Engineer Evaluation
Test engineer reviews the test plan and provides a test time estimate.
Test Fixture Procurement
Client provides test fixture and other specialist equipment if required. NextPCB can assist in test fixture development.
SOP and Training
Test engineer validates test hardware and generates an internal standard operation procedure (SOP) for training.
Functional Testing
Testing is performed after PCB assembly on the requested quantity. Defects are analyzed and repaired until they pass testing.
