How to Export Gerber Files from EasyEDA

EasyEDA is a free, browser-based PCB design tool (also available as the EasyEDA Pro desktop app) with a built-in Gerber export function — no separate CAM processor needed. This guide covers exporting Gerber and drill files for upload to NextPCB.

Step 1: Finish Your Layout and Run DRC

Complete routing and run Design Rule Check to catch unrouted nets or clearance violations before exporting.

Step 2: Open the Fabrication Output

Go to File → Export → PCB Fabrication File (Gerber) (or click the Fabrication Output icon on the toolbar). If EasyEDA detects unrouted "flying wires," it will prompt you to check them first — resolve these before continuing, or choose to export anyway if intentional.

Step 3: Choose Your Export Settings

• One-click export uses default settings and exports all layers/primitives, but excludes the drill table and standalone drill file.
• Custom configuration lets you select which layers to include, set units (default: mm), and set drill file precision (default: 4 decimal digits for mm, 5 for inch).

For a manufacturing-ready package, use custom configuration and make sure drill files are included.

Step 4: Generate and Download

Click Generate Gerber to download a Gerber_Drill.zip archive.

Step 5: Verify the File Set

Unzip and confirm the archive includes:

• Gerber_BoardOutlineLayer.GKO — board outline
• Gerber_TopLayer.GTL / Gerber_BottomLayer.GBL — copper layers
• Gerber_TopSilkLayer.GTO / Gerber_BottomSilkLayer.GBO — silkscreen
• Gerber_TopSolderMaskLayer.GTS / Gerber_BottomSolderMaskLayer.GBS — solder mask
• Drill_PTH_Through.DRL / Drill_NPTH_Through.DRL — plated and non-plated drill files
• Any inner layer files (.G1, .GP2, etc.) for multilayer boards

Step 6: Upload

The downloaded zip is ready to upload as-is — no need to rename or repackage the files.

FAQ

Do I need to rename the exported files before uploading?

No — export first, then rename only if necessary afterward. Renaming files before export can cause generation errors.

What does the "flying wires" warning mean?

It means there are unrouted connections in your design. EasyEDA will highlight the first one and let you step through the rest — fix them before exporting for manufacturing.

Can I order directly from EasyEDA instead of exporting?

Yes, EasyEDA has integrated ordering with its default fab partner, but to order from NextPCB you'll need to export and upload the Gerber files manually using the steps above.
